Since 7 October 2023, Israeli detention facilities have morphed into arenas of genocide, where severe and systematic violations are inflicted upon Palestinian prisoners. These abuses stem from policies involving physical and psychological torture, intentional medical neglect, starvation, sexual violence, solitary confinement, and the denial of the most basic human rights. Such actions are part of a broader strategy of slow genocide aimed at eroding the lives and dignity of prisoners, often resulting in their deaths within these detention centers. These policies are inextricably linked to the larger context of the genocide being executed by the occupying authorities against the Palestinian people, with Israeli prisons serving as a primary mechanism for sustaining systematic killings and the continuous breach of international law and humanitarian standards. 

Consequently, the year 2025 marked the declaration of the martyrdom of 32 Palestinian prisoners, followed by the later announcement of three additional martyrs, one of whom was reported as martyred on 9 September 2025, another on 12 February 2026, and the last on 28 March 2026. From 7 October 2023 to 15 April 2026, the martyrdom of 89 Palestinian prisoners was confirmed, a figure that can be substantiated, representing the highest toll in history and marking this period as the most violent in the history of the prisoner movement since 1967. The cumulative total of martyrs within the prisoner movement in Israeli prisons since 1967 has reached 326. However, the true figure is probably even greater, considering the ongoing practice of enforced disappearance by the Israeli occupation against numerous prisoners from the Gaza Strip, whose fates remain uncertain to this day.

This paper seeks to rigorously document and expose the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention facilities, drawing on available testimonies and evidence, including autopsy reports, firsthand accounts from fellow prisoners, and documentation concerning the deceased prisoners’ conditions of detention and health. It further examines the direct and cumulative impact of torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, deliberate medical neglect, and the systematic denial of adequate healthcare on the growing number of prisoners killed in custody.
